On June 18, the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association held in Vienna a ceremony for appointing Wang Xigen, President of Law School, HUST, President of the Institute of Human Rights Law, and the Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars Program. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Gerd Kaminski, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association, Secretary-General of the Austrian-Chinese Law Society and Director of the Austrian Institute of China and Southeast Asia Studies.

At the appointment ceremony, Dr. Heinz Fischer, former President of Austria and Chairman of the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association, summarized Wang Xigen's basic situation and academic achievements and thanked him for his efforts in cultural exchanges between Austria and China. He hoped that Wang Xigen would continue to further promote the cultural exchanges between Austria and China, and awarded a letter of appointment for life-long senior consultant to Wang Xigen. The letter of appointment was issued jointly by Mr. Fischer, Austrian Vice-President and Prime Minister Sebastian Kurtz, and Doris Briss, president of the second chamber of the Austrian National Council.

 

At the same time, Professor Wang Xigen has also been appointed as life-long senior consultant of the Austrian-Chinese Law Society and senior researcher of the Austrian Institute of China and Southeast Asia Studies. The letters of appointment were jointly issued by Professor Kaminski, Dr. Joseph Mosell, Minister of Justice of Austria, Dr. Jonas Jarolin, President of the Austrian-Chinese Law Society, and Professor Gubin, honorary director of the Institute. and former President Fisher.

 

Wang Xigen said it was a great honor for him to be recognized by former President Fischer and relevant experts, and expressed more thanks to former President Fischer for his high degree of trust. He determined to continue to expand the cooperation platform so as to get more scholars involved in bilateral exchanges.
