Profile

Professor Jia comes from Badong County in Hubei Province, one of Tujia ethnic minority. Chinese Communist Party member.

PhD in Criminal Law in School of Law, Wuhan University; Post-doctor in political science in Beijing Normal University; nominated as professor in 2005.

He once worked in Hubei Academy of Social Science and the People’s Procuratorate of Hubei, and so on. Now he is professor, doctoral supervisor and the principal of discipline of criminal law in School of Law, dean of Law and Public Policy Institute, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST).

Known as the first Hubei Province prosecution business experts (2007), one of the Third Sessional Excellent Young & Middle-aged Jurists in Hubei Province (2012), and a senior research scholar at the University of Heidelberg, Germany (2014).

Member of the International Association of Criminal Law, director of China Criminal Law Society, vice president of Hubei Criminal Law Society, vice president of Hubei Law and Economics Society, standing director of Hubei Criminology Society. Guest researcher of College for Criminal Law Science of Beijing Normal University, adjunct professor of the Criminal Law Research Center of Wuhan University, researcher of the Legal Development and Judicial Reform Research Center of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.

Once taking a temporary post as vice governor of Huangshigang District in Huangshi City, Hubei province(2006-2007), assistant of chief procurator of the People’s Procuratorate in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region(2012).

Research Projects:

Presiding and having presided over more than twenty research projects supported by the National Social Science Fund, Provincial Social Science Fund and so on. Main projects in recent years are as following:

1. Study on the Dispute of Theories of Crime (Funded by the National Social Science Fund in 2016).

2. Urban Spatial Environment and Crime Prevention (key project for humanities and social science of Hubei Provincial Department of Education in 2013).

3. Study on the Tripartite Structure of Crime Theoretical System (key project of Hubei Province Social Science Fund in 2012).
